Black Mountain Golf and Country Club is a classic Las Vegas club, opened in 1957. While the recent golf boom in Las Vegas in the past ten years has sent greens fees through the roof, Black Mountain remains one of the most affordable clubs in the area.
"I like to call us a blue collar country club," says Jeff Jensen, Director of Marketing at Black Mountain. "We are definitely the affordable alternative. The dues are very low, and the outside play for residents and nonresidents is affordable. We offer better conditions and service than the county owned courses, but we don't pretend to be Reflection Bay."
A semi-private club, Black Mountain is located in Henderson, 20-25 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.
Despite a humble yardage of just 6,550 yards, the course is tough enough to host a handful of qualifying events, including the U.S. Open qualifier. The well-guarded, small greens put a premium on accurate short irons.
"I think we can safely say that for the money, you won't find a better course," Jensen says.
A third nine was added to this classic club in 2002, which is more of a traditional desert layout compared to the lush greenery of the original 18.
A club owned by the members themselves, Black Mountain has stood the test of time perfecting the triple threat: a challenging layout, excellent course conditions and courteous service.
